Bridging Thailand’s Cultural Past and Future

The Golden Triangle Gallery hosted a Thai art exhibition at the NKong Gallery in Moscow, Russia. The exhibition brought together the craftsmanship of 19th century Thai silversmiths and the works of modern and contemporary Thai artists, Manu and Lek Sanpul. The goals of the exhibition were twofold.

Firstly, to showcase the rich religious and philosophical teachings of ancient Thailand, expressed through masterfully-carved silver vessels that were covered in ancient Buddhist legends.

Secondly, to illustrate how modern and contemporary Thai artists like Manu and Lek Sanpul have integrated centuries-old craftsmanship into their art. This represents a larger artist movement in Thailand that is both helping to renew the meaning of its rich cultural history, and acting as a bridge to its cultural future.
